Route JUMP, ‘Boulder / Lafayette via Arapahoe’, runs from to Downtown Boulder Station to Lafayette Park-n-Ride / Erie Community Center via Arapahoe Road.

Route JUMP was originally Route 207. It was renamed to JUMP in 2001, as themed with other Boulder Bus names (HOP, SKIP, BOUND, and LEAP), and the 3900 Series Gillig 30ft Low Floor Transit Buses were given special livery for the route. In 2008, the branch to Erie was added.  The route was switched to Gillig 40ft Low Floor Transit Buses in 2018, and the special livery buses were banished to Longmont to serve local routes.

Prior to 1999, Route 207 was the only segment to Boulder CTEC.  Lafayette was served by 226 during peak hours only.  226 was folded into 207 in 1999.  226 had slightly different routing than today’s Long JUMP.

Current Issues

This route suffers from poor scheduling at ? Station, here buses are timed to depart 3 minutes before W Line trains arrive.

Future Plans

The System Optimization Plan proposes to cut back JUMP service to BVSD – Boulder TEC with 15 minute frequency in the middle of weekdays, 30 minute frequency at all other times. These changes would be made in conjunction with alterations to Route 225.

The System Optimization Plan also proposes a ‘JUMP X’ express route, which would operate at 30 minute frequency in the weekday peak periods and use over-the-road-coaches. The new route would follow Route LD1 / LD3 from Lafayette Park-n-Ride to Downtown Boulder Station via Arapahoe Road with fewer stops.
